Hawaii is the land of luaus and volcanoes, of black-sand beaches and lush mountain vistas. It's also home to a wide variety of resorts, from family-owned hillside bed and breakfasts to towering luxury resorts and condos. But what if you seek the all-meals-and-drinks-included experience? Are there all-inclusive Hawaii resorts to cater to your every culinary whim?
Unlike its Caribbean and Mexican counterparts, Hawaii's top beach destinations have little in the way of all-inclusive experiences. However, you do have a few options for the traditional all-inclusive experience, plus a smattering of better-than-average packages and deals that can help cover the costs of dining and drinking.
All-Inclusive Hawaii Resorts
Travaasa Maui
By far the most generous of all of the all-inclusive Hawaii resorts we discovered, Maui's 4-star Traavasa offers an all-inclusive package that not only includes three chef-prepared meals daily, but also gets you perks like bottled water, organic fair-trade coffee, access to all the resort's facilities, and a $175 resort credit per person, per stay.
The resort is a short distance from Red Sand Beach and Hana Beach Park. For accommodations, choose from ocean bungalows, garden suites and family suites, all well-appointed with modern decor.
Still looking for all-inclusive Hawaii resorts? Consider these:
The following resorts aren't all-inclusive in the typical sense — some offer meals as part of a dining package to be purchased separately. Others offer perks that include some meals or credits to be used toward meals.
Royal Lahaina Resort, Maui
You'll certainly feel like royalty with the Royal Lahaina Resort's "Royal Romance" package. Not only do you get daily breakfast with your accommodations and a $150 food and beverage credit to use during your stay, you also get a luau dinner on one night and private oceanside dinner on another. Note that a 5-night stay is required.
Hilton Hawaii Village, Oahu
The "Leisure Escapes" package from this Honolulu resort gives you a $50 daily dining credit to use at Hilton-owned restaurants. Though that certainly won't cover all your meals, it will put a dent in your dining bill. And since the resort has 20 on-site restaurants and bars, you won't have any trouble finding a place to put it to use.
Lumeria Maui
The zen-inducing Lumeria Maui is an all-inclusive retreat dedicated to showing travelers another side of the island. With an all-inclusive dining package, you'll enjoy three healthy, locally sourced meals each day — plus yoga, meditation, sound therapy, aromatherapy and horticulture classes. You can also schedule water sports activities and treatments at the on-site spa.
