Best Beaches in Bridgetown
1. Crane Beach
Crane Beach was named for the large crane that used to unload incoming ships hundreds of years ago, but don't let its industrial past put you off. This pink-sand beach is a drop-dead gorgeous slice of heaven on the southeast coast that marries the wild Atlantic waters with the cool Caribbean coast.
It's one of the most picturesque spots on the island, as it's flanked by high cliffs covered in lush vegetation, and it's somewhat off the beaten path.
Bright and BreezyA hefty breeze rolls through here that relieves travelers from the sun's intense rays and provides the necessary waves for body surfing, a popular beach pastime.
If you prefer calmer waters, head to the protected cove to swim or snorkel. Don't be afraid to wade out a ways—you'll feel it when the water starts to get a little deeper.
And don't worry about stepping on anything sharp; the sand here is soft and luscious underfoot, with very few rocks and stones poking out.
Getting HereCrane Beach is only about a five-minute drive from the airport, and though you can access the beach by The Crane Resort, there is a hefty charge. If you go this route, check out the one-of-a-kind glass elevator that takes visitors down to the beachfront. For free entrance, head to the opposite end of the beach toward the set of steps.
Though they may be a bit pricey, you can rent chairs and buy libations from vendors passing through.

2. Bottom Bay
Beautiful Bottom Bay is certainly not on the bottom of any revered beach list; in fact, this beach is a top tourist attraction, thanks to its eye-candy combination of blue waters, green coconut trees and sugary white sands. High coral cliffs enclose the beach and allow for panoramic views of the beach below.
Without a doubt, Bottom Bay is the ideal place to experience the local culture, cuisines and overall spirit of Barbados.
Look, But Don't SwimA favorite activity of beachgoers is to picnic under the tall palm trees that dot the beach. While the waves are a bit too tumultuous for swimming and snorkeling, visitors love the golfing, cruises, cycling and horseback tours, and other activities available near the beach.
For a more relaxed day, stroll up to the cliffs, where you'll find stately mansions and luxe dwellings overlooking the sea.
Nearby AttractionsIf you have kids along for the ride, take them to George V Memorial Park, a green expanse where they can run freely. Sunbury Plantation House and Museum gives visitors a glimpse of the island's history, with a decorative arts bent.
The Six Roads Shopping Complex will give your credit card a workout, and the charming Rugged Point Lighthouse serves as a scenic landmark on the easternmost point of the island.
