Situated on a half-mile stretch along Bermuda's southern coast, Warwick Long Bay Beach is the epitome of calm. Never crowded and devoid of all commercial establishments that tend to blight such pristine scenes, the beach has a reputation around the island and around the world for being exactly what travelers seek in a secluded beach.

You'll know you've reached this slice of heaven when you see the two large boulders guarding the west end of the beach.

To truly experience Warwick Long Bay Beach at its best, wake up early and join the few other swimmers and joggers who visit when the sun is not as intense.

As you walk from one end of the beach to the other, stop to take a quick dip in one of the small coves along the way, or don your snorkel gear and enjoy views of the aquatic life near the reef. Lucky travelers have reported seeing parrotfish and other species.

This beach is ideal for kids, as the waters are never too intense for beginning swimmers.

The great thing about Warwick Long Beach is that it's an escape from the buzzing activity at other, more popular beaches. On the other hand, it's close enough to well-known neighbors like Chaplin Bay, Jobson's Cove and Stone Hole Bay that you can spend several days getting to know each area.

To get here, drive to South Shore Park in Warwick Parish, and find the entrance at the west end of the beach. You can reach the beach from a short road that starts at the parking lot.

Keep in mind that all public beaches in Bermuda are closed from sunset to sunrise, so plan to head to nearby Tobacco Bay for dinner once the sun goes down.
