Best Beaches in Pensacola
1. Pensacola Beach
Though Florida has many top-rated beaches, it would be unwise to overlook all the wonderful treasures of Pensacola Beach, a Gulf Coast destination that was recognized by TripAdvisor as one of the top beaches in the U.S.
Pensacola Beach is situated on Santa Rosa Island, a long strip of land that hosts both unspoiled natural habitats and energetic beachfront festivities.
If you're looking forward to a quiet escape with plenty of solitude, you can have that here. If you want to socialize—bar hop, meet new people, have a famous rum-infused Bushwacker cocktail—you can do that, too.
Flora, Fauna and FunNature lovers will be entranced by the Footprint in the Sand Eco-Trail, designed to familiarize visitors with the many species of sea turtles, birds, fish and crustaceans that live in and around the beach.
To see the sights, rent a bike and cruise the beachfront roads. If you're on foot, check out the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk, home to dozens of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Then walk out to the end of the pier, one of the longest in the area and a favorite of fishers. The sunset from this vantage point is unbelievable.
Though visitors love to do the typical beach activities here—swimming, snorkeling, beach volleyball—there are a number of other things to try as well. Rent a boat or other water craft, such as a kayak, parasail or yacht, and experience Pensacola Beach from the water. It's a breeze to get around this way, and you'll be in good company.
Later, visit Fort Pickens, a highly rated historical attraction completed in 1834.
Free TrolleyThough there is parking available in Pensacola Beach, consider ditching the traditional vehicle and getting around by trolley instead. This free service begins in the summer months and runs from 4 p.m. to midnight daily, and is a fun and easy way to see the beach.
