Best Beaches in Punta Cana
1. Playa Cabeza de Toro
In one of Punta Cana's more remote corners, backed by a slew of budget all-inclusive resorts, lies Playa Cabeza de Toro. Like many areas in the Dominican Republic's most beloved resort town, there's not much in the surrounding streets to lure tourists outside of their beach-bliss bubble.
Here, it's all about enjoying resort amenities, including endless food and drinks and unfettered access to a white-sand tropical beach.
Finding Beach HeavenWhether or not you're impressed by the beachfront depends on which resort is your home base. The hotels toward the eastern end, including Blue Beach Punta Cana and Be Live Collection, border a part of the coast that some visitors find somewhat unattractive, thanks to overcrowded beaches and an abundance of seaweed.
However, no matter where you're staying, gorgeous unspoiled stretches are never too far. Simply walk west toward the Natura Park Eco Resort. You'll stumble across the pristine white-sand vistas the Dominican Republic is known for. Plus, you'll pass vendors selling everything from jewelry to beach portraits.
ActivitiesAside from sunbathing, snacking and sipping cocktails, you can spend your time on snorkeling excursions to nearby reefs or on trips to see the abundant nature and wildlife in the surrounding area, especially the Bavaro Lagoon. There is also a small artisan market in town that's worth a visit for picking up beach essentials or souvenirs.
Getting to and from area resorts is quick and easy, as the Punta Cana airport is only about five miles away.
